Real Life Example:
The federal government has many historical buildings which require specialized maintenance and repair. One example is a control house in Troutdale, OR, built in the 1930s. This particular building has cold rolled steel window frames and a brick facade. The window frames were rusted and breaking. The building was designated as a historical preservation site, so Doug worked with the Oregon state Historical Preservation Department to determine what kind of materials could be used to replace the windows.
With research, he found that a vendor in Chicago, IL could provide appropriate windows that met both the historical guidelines and modern standards for the building. The windows were installed according to the historical guidelines. The building is still in operation today in its intended purpose.
